Our offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 in honor of Independence Day.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

The painting displayed here is by the artist John Trumbull (died 1843) and hangs in the Capitol Rotunda. It depicts the moment on June 28, 1776, when the first draft of the Declaration of Independence was presented to the Second Continental Congress. Several days later on July 4th, 1776 the Declaration was officially adopted.
